I vaguely remember something called ggdb some time ago, but never used it myself.

Does anyone have a particular choice of which GUI?

Here are some other open-source choices for GDB GUIs.

ddd motif/compatibles http://www.gnu.org/software/ddd/

eclipse IDE JAVA http://www.eclipse.org/

insight tcl/tk http://sourceware.org/insight/

emacs X11/many APIs http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/

xxdbg X11 ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib/utilities/

clewn gvim http://clewn.sourceforge.net/

ccdebug QT http://ccdebug.sourceforge.net/

beaver debugger QT/MSWin/OSX http://code.google.com/p/beaverdbg/

What others are there to consider porting?

How involved is a from scratch implementation?
