- VLC 0.9.9 or newer as basis
- at least local file and encrypted DVD viewing should work
- double or triple buffering videos along with P96 (or CGX) overlay (yuv to rgb with GPU) when a suitable card is used
- NPAPI for (common) browser connectivity, alternatively a plugin for IBrowse or AWeb.
- native GUI for all of the following pause/seeking/audio track choice/subtitle choice/fullscreen & scaling options, but one that doesn't rely on X Window System or its derivative.
